Beyond Beautiful – DOTI Window Treatments Provide Privacy & Protection

Among the first things that new homeowners need to address when they arrive in their new home are bare windows. For many, privacy is a concern. Often stop-gap measures such as sheets are used to cover windows, until more suitable window treatments can be addressed.

“We see a few sheets over windows when we meet with our clients in their homes,” commented Tabatha, a Design Consultant from the DOTI – Huntington Beach store. “Even though our clients want to protect their privacy, and wish to have a gorgeous window treatment, they’re amazed by the other things we can accomplish for them with custom window treatments.”

East or west facing windows may require sun-blocking window treatments during the hours of the day when sunlight is intense, and flexibility to enjoy the view from the windows at other times of the day. Bedroom windows need to be addressed with window treatments that promote sleep - especially for children who are awakened with the sunrise, or refuse to go to sleep when bedtime precedes sunset.

“Asking questions about our clients’ lifestyles makes it possible to customize the right window treatments for their lives and their homes,” said Kate, a DOTI Design Consultant. “If they like soft sunlight for the breakfast table at 7 and a home theatre room that can be blacked out during the day, we can accomplish those things with the right selection of window treatment fabrics and backers. Since we create custom window treatments, our clients can have a beautiful room with coordinating fabrics on windows, upholstery, pillows and bed comforters.”

“Window treatments are a gorgeous statement piece in any room in the home,” commented Jennifer another DOTI Design Consultant. “My clients’ windows are dressed for their rooms,” (she/he) noted, “But my recommendations are also based on the rest of the furnishings in the room. For example, a leather sofa and most furniture finishes need protection from direct sunlight. So I need to consider how light falls in the room when I create window treatments for that room.”
